Last night, we were Tweeting like crazy about Wii U stuff.
For this night, David and I even had to do that together.
What did they announce? You’ll see here.
Nintendo Wii U GamePad
Yup, that’s the official name for Nintendo Wii U’s controller!
Eventually, the final design has been shown, explaining that this is better for your hands.
The name, “GamePad” has been based off the nickname of the NES controller, so nothing to do with the iPad. Sorry!
In addition to that, the controller supports NFC connection.
Iwata did explain why, but we were concentrated on those damn Tweets, at that moment.
Nintendo Wii U Pro Controller
Don’t want to have a screen in your hands?
Then you’ll need to have the Wii U Pro Controller!
The only difference is, it’s without a screen, plus it has a shape of an XBOX 360 Controller, rather than an iPad.
Black Wii U GamePad
Nintendo has shown a short soap about the Wii U GamePad.
While a nerd was killing some zombies, you could clearly see a new Wii U GamePad: A black one!
Now we’re waiting for the black console, aren’t we?
Or just a white console, a white GamePad, and a black GamePad?
My money……Auch!
Video Chat
Need help? Forums are no longer needed!
There’s a social network system in the Wii U, based on Twitter.
In addition to that, you can also consider, placing your Wii U GamePad in front of your TV screen, and use a Skype-like Video Chat function.
But, did that nerd really take the grandpa seriously?
The answer is “Yes”.
Non Specific Action Figure
Is this a joke or something?!
I don’t know, but the nerd in the video, did specify a Non Specific Action Figure.
It appears to change emotions, give you some courage, and……it was even shown at the end of the soap.
Instead of “Forever Alone”, it’s now “Together Wii U”.
Achievements
That’s one thing I can’t really tell it’s true or not, but I’ll mention it, anyway.
Over the years, Nintendo never had any Achievements System, even though it has been added to StreetPass Mii Plaza, months after the 3DS’s launch.
Some bloggers have hinted on one text balloon in New Super Mario Bros. for Wii U.
The Wii U could have a system like the XBOX 360 or PS3/Vita have for years, but I guess we’ll watch and see.
Miiverse
This is the Wii U Home Menu: Mii’s Universe, or Miiverse.
The Home Screen is very busy, but it’s also Browser Based, meaning that you can access it on your Wii U Console, as well as on your Nintendo 3DS, PC/Mac, or even your Smartphone/Tablet.
Verdict
All with this summed up, it looks like the Wii U will be feature rich.
They said the same about the 3DS, which turned out to be all spread via System Updates, and the eShop.
Will the Wii U really be as feature rich at launch?
In that case, I’d say:
