Update: For the people that got upset on this article, I’m sorry for writing something original.
There are millions of sites around that compare games, battery life, RAM, and more.
If ya wanna see that, just Google it!
This article is a different comparison than millions of other people already did!
So if you hate original content and prefer too see exactly the same content on every site, this site might not be for you.
The most original title of the world ey?
OK, this is all about the 2 latest handhelds on the market: Nintendo 3DS versus Sony PlayStation Vita.
Both have good and bad aspects and that is what we will see here.
Both will be rated on OS, Camera, Browser, Screen Settings, Cartridges and Memory.
Let’s-a go!
OS

Both OS’s work decently.
Both have their pro’s and cons.
3DS is dual-tasking and that is just limited.
Only apps at the top bar can run while other apps run.
Apps at the main screen of the Home screen can’t!
They can only be used once at a time.
Vita is triple-tasking, any App can be fired up at the same time, but only 3 can run.
This means any app AND game!
Better: Vita is multi-touch unlike 3DS.
In other words, Vita’s OS can do way more than 3DS’s OS can do.
So Vita wins this round.
3DS: 0
Vita: 1
Camera

Both handhelds have camera’s and both have on the front and back.
The 3DS actually has 3 camera’s and the Vita has 2.
3DS can take 3D photo’s and 3D video’s on the back and 2D photo’s and 2D video’s on the front.
Video’s can be recorded up to 10 minutes per video.
See the photo below for how a photo on the 3DS looks like, in 2D of course.
Vita can only make 2D photo’s on stuff that don’t contain light.
I took some some photo’s with electric lights and that made the text fully unreadable and for stuff without text, it was fully blurry.
This never occured on the 3DS.
Also: there is no way too record video on it.
See the photo below for how a photo on the Vita looks like.

In other words, Vita may have a way better quality camera, but the 3DS can capture more stuff.
And 3DS contains video recording, unlike the Vita.
So 3DS wins this round.
3DS: 1
Vita: 1
Browser

Both browsers actually suck!
Many typos, lots of glitches, no Flash, too name a few.
The only difference is zooming.
3DS zooms in by buttons and Vita zooms in by pinching.
In other words, nobody won this race.
3DS: 1
Vita: 1
Screen Settings

You can adjust your screen on both handhelds.
Both have easy access but both use different ways.
3DS requires you too freeze the game (go to the Home screen) and it is all clear where it all is located: the left-top most button!
Tap this and choose between 5 levels.
Vita does not require you too freeze the game (go to the LiveArea) but this feature is a bit more of a secret.
Hold the PS button for 5 seconds and adjust the brightness to whatever ya like.
In other words, Vita has quicker access and more customization.
So Vita wins this round.
3DS: 1
Vita: 2
Cartridges

Both handhelds give you cartridges.
One is smaller than the other but what is better?
3DS has a cartridge very similar too the DS.
This ensures backwards compatibility!
It is also harder too let it suck up through a vaccuum cleaner.
Vita has very small cartridges whereas PSP had huge ones.
Vita is still backwards compatible but only by converting yer PSP games for 10 euros per game.
Downloading them for retail price is possible too but why ya wanna pay money for somethin’ ya already paid?
In other words, 3DS cartridges ensure more possibilities from the past for free.
So 3DS wins this round.
3DS: 2
Vita: 2
Memory

Both handhelds use external memory.
But which one makes the handheld a winner?
3DS uses the SD card we all have and we all love.
Gettin’ yer data too yer computer is very easy with this.
Vita uses a propertary memory card that is smaller than an SD card but no PC slots are made for this.
No local store has these cards before Vita launch while they had SD cards before 3DS launch.
More cons: 3DS comes with an SD card by default while Vita is memory-less when buying a new Vita.
Even more than that: Vita cards are super expensive.
In other words, 3DS uses memory that follows the current standards while Vita ignores the current standards.
So 3DS is the grand WinRAR!
3DS: 3
Vita: 2

VITA IS THE REAL WINRAR! cant wait to get my Vita in Feb :P
This kinda fails because it only reviews settings, memory, navigation, web browsing and external stuff, forgetting the more important things like graphics, gameplay, game library and controls. So yeah, it’s a poor comparison
I honestly think most all of the points here are moot. I play games more than anything on these devices and it will come down to the cost of the games and the games themselves.
Also the cost of the Hardware will be the biggest turn off/on.
Vita will have to come a lot closer to the 3ds in order to keep up.
Doesn’t 3DS have an on-the-fly brightness manipulation system like the DSi??
These points are rubbish
The 3ds has ok graphics
The vitas graphics are more powerful

Ok, folks, I’m Bartek from staff, I’ll answer your sonyfanboyish questions. :)
“This kinda fails because it only reviews settings, memory, navigation, web browsing and external stuff, forgetting the more important things like graphics, gameplay, game library and controls. So yeah, it’s a poor comparison”
Graphics? Maybe yeah, but remember that 3DS is in 3D, that can also be a point, so I’ll add draw in here.
Gameplay? There is only one worth PSVita game for now. What about SM3DL, MK7 or TLoZ:OoT?
Game library? Course 3DS! Look at amount of games for that one.
Controls? That all depends. I don’t know if PSVita has got gyroscope, but 3DS has and it is fun to play MK7 in that mode. PSVita has got Multitouch and second analog, which 3DS will get in a while.
I agree with your opinion, but wait, it’s my friend, that’s what he made just in a while. So don’t be mad at him, he isn’t IGN :P
“VITA IS THE REAL WINRAR! cant wait to get my Vita in Feb :P”
It depends on what do you want to play ^_^

Ok, so graphics are worth OVER 9000!!1!111!!! points? If yes, then why DS was a big hit, while PSP could play a lot better 3D one?
“Doesn’t 3DS have an on-the-fly brightness manipulation system like the DSi??”
Almost.
“I honestly think most all of the points here are moot. I play games more than anything on these devices and it will come down to the cost of the games and the games themselves.

Vita games will be more expensive, that’s a shame cause I wanted to buy one :/
Hardware? Android phones are LOT stronger than 3DS but they can only emulate GBA (good)and NDS slowly!
Hope I answered all questions.
Any more?

I own a 3DS and am mostly happy with it. For all you graphics junkies, the 3DS’s graphics are quite impressive. All one has to do is look at both Resident Evil games. So PSVita may be capable of better graphics by numbers, it all comes down to wether or not the developer takes advantage of its capabilities. Either way, good graphics can’t make a bad game good.
This sounds fair to me. The only thing the Vita is better at is graphics and its touch screen is better. And comparing it to Resident Evil 3D, the graphics arent even that much better. Other than that, the Vita is too big, too expensive, its not backwards compatable, and the game library is even worst than the 3DSs. I dont have a Vita, but my friend complains about it all the time. Its not a bad console, its just not as good as Nintendo.
Vita can record videos .__. and uses an usb cable to connect with the pc,ps3,etc
I actually appreciate a review that looks at more of the stuff that is overlooked in system reviews. I wouldn’t have known about the Vita’s different memory card, (almost) lack of backwards compatibility, and browser stuff.
