You know it, you can set your favourite colour, your name, your default text, and your birth date.
We’re talk about an easter egg about the last one.
Yes, in Pictochat!

1. Make sure you set your birth date correctly, and wait until your birthday.
2. On that day, boot up your DS, and you’ll notice a different sound.
3. Go to Pictochat, and choose a random room.
4. Happy Birthday!
Example below.

Note: I’ve set the birth date, name and language for this tutorial only.
My birthday is on December 7th.

That’s right, a new Linux distro will come out, with a little help of DSHack Team.
The distro’s temporary name is YamiOS, and will feature a lot of Eye Candy and Games.
We at The CW-Network understand there’s not much games available for Linux, and the fact that most games from official developers come for Windows (and sometimes Mac) only, but what not?
This idea has begun around the release of Ubuntu 9.04, but this project could never be reality.
Reason: Linux distro’s get upgrades time to time, Ubuntu and Linux Mint get upgraded twice a year.
Plus, Debian based distro’s have few distro builders, which don’t work fine.
Beside that, I wanted to create a distro, which features rolling releases: Always the latest updates, without the need of upgrading to a newer version.
Currently, this project is proof of concept, so only the look and feel have been created so far.

Since I got my DS Capture Device, I needed to install a 32-bit Windows version.
I choose Windows 7 Ultimate.
However, Windows’s MBR destroys Grub2, or any other non-Redmond boot loader.
And in order to get Linux working, you need a non-Redmond boot loader.
Grub2 is different from Grub, few tutorials can be found on the internet, but there’s only one, which succeeds.
And here it is!

Boot Ubuntu Karmic Koala/Linux Mint 8 or higher.
The following step is not required, but still recommended to do:
Start GParted (Ubuntu = System > Administration > GParted, Linux Mint = Menu > (All) Programs > Administration > GParted).
Take a look at the “Extended” partition, and keep the root Linux partition (most likely with ext4 or ext3 as file system) in mind (we’ll use /dev/sda5).
Now, press Alt+F2, type in “gnome-terminal”, and hit Enter.

sudo mount /dev/sda5 /mnt
sudo grub-install –root-directory=/mnt/ /dev/sda
sudo reboot

And now, after rebooting to Ubuntu/Linux Mint, open the Terminal again, and do this command to update the boot menu:

sudo update-grub

Well, you’re done!

In this 7 years of DS, I started playing the DS with a normal DS, and later on DS Lite.
I’m still using these, and ordered DSi (still waiting ~ DealExtreme).
But while the existens of the DS, I always wondered when a Gameboy Player-like device will come out for DS/Wii.
In the mean time, no$gba and DeSmuME kept improving.
Later on, NeoWynaut made the DS Debugger, for use for The DSHack Team only.
However, the biggest limitation is, it deletes every byte on all cartridges, so we have to load ROMs into a very ugly device.
And now, Filb.de sold their second DS Capture Device to me, known as the solution for recording own DS games, without Emulator or camera.

Do you ever get such dumb annoying errour messages, which say they need a specific DLL file?
Solve it this way.

We’ll take an example of an Application, which needs a DLL file to operate.

We’ll need MSVCR100.dll file.
First, open Google, and just type in your missing DLL file.
In this case: MSVCR100.dll.
You’ll most likely get a site, called “dll-files.com”.
Go to that one, it’s secure.
Scroll down to “Free Download”, and click the link inside that box.
Never use the Premium Install!
All it does, you can easily do it yourself!
A pop-up will open (unblock pop-ups if it doesn’t).
Click the headed link to download.

Instructions for Windows 95/98/Me
1. Open the ZIP file.
2. Open Windows Explorer.
3. Go to “C:\Windows\System”.
4. Extract the DLL file in that directory.

Instructions for Windows NT/2000
1. Open the ZIP file.
2. Open Windows Explorer.
3. Go to “C:\WINNT\System32″.
4. Extract the DLL file in that directory.

Instructions for Windows XP/Vista/7
1. Open the ZIP file.
2. Open Windows Explorer.
3. Go to “C:\Windows\System32″.
4. Extract the DLL file in that directory.
5. Go to “C:\Windows\SysWOW64″ (64 bit only!).
6. Extract the DLL file in that directory (64 bit only!).

And now try opening that Application.
If you get another DLL Errour, repeat this tutorial.
If not, have fun with your Application!
